EPCOT’s Awesome Planet Review

Posted on February 10, 2020February 10, 2020 by Theme Park Anthropologist

The Land Pavilion has a new show, Awesome Planet. It’s replacing the long-running Lion King Circle of Life. When I first heard about this show, it sounded like a placeholder while Imagineers work on something else, this still could be the case. Nonetheless, it was an incredibly enjoyable show. The premise is that Ty Burrell plays a real estate agent (like his Phil Dunphy character on Modern Family) who is trying to “sell” us Earth as our ideal home. He takes us through an exploration of all the biomes and what they have to offer us. The images are breathtaking and I was surprised by the subtle 4D effects that were added to the show.

Our realtor then tells us that our dream home is a bit of a fixer-upper. He informs us of some of the unfortunate damage that has occurred. But with some TLC our Earth home could shelter us for a long time. Overall, this was a well-done show. It fits in perfectly with Living with the Land and Soarin’ attractions.
