Vegan and Vegetarian Review of Centertown Market at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Posted on June 14, 2019June 14, 2019 by Theme Park Anthropologist

Centown Market is a quick service location at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.  It’s basically a quick service paradise for vegans and vegetarians at dinner time.  I counted about ten vegan and vegetarian items when I was there, but their menu is still changing. A few of those items have been removed from the menu and one of the items I just tried underwent a couple of tweaks too.

First, let’s start with the atmosphere. Centertown Market is located in the Old Port Royale area of the resort. It carries through with the same tropical pastels as the rest of the resort. The quick service is divided into two areas, “Grab n’ Go” line  and a line to order prepared meals. Once you order your food, you’re given a pager and go to the “Pick Up” window when it goes off. Nothing too complicated, and the line moved quickly.

Centertown Market was clean and staffed by some of the most amazing cast members that I’ve encountered in a long time.  They were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. On this visit, we decided to try the Vegan “Cheesesteak” Grilled Seitan and the Vegan “Eggless” Salad Sandwich.

The “Cheesesteak” Grilled Seitan was served on a hoagie style roll with sauteed peppers and onions and smothered with vegan cheese. I’m usually not a big fan of vegan cheese.  When I saw how much there was on it, I was a little apprehensive. It was actually really good! There wasn’t too much of anything in this sandwich and the grilled seitan had just the right amount of spice to it.  The vegan cheesesteak was of the same quality and taste that I get at one of my favorite vegan restaurants. Sometimes when non-vegan restaurants attempt a sandwich like this, the result is an awkward mess. This was not the case here.

Next, we tried the Vegan “Eggless” Salad Sandwich.  This sandwich had some adjustments made to it just a couple of days after we tried it- hopefully for the better.   This wasn’t a bad sandwich. It was just bland. It came with vegan eggless salad (obviously), lettuce and tomato on multigrain bread. The eggless salad really had no flavor.  I would have liked to taste more of a Caribbean influence with curry spices, tropical fruits and nuts. However, it looks like this sandwich is now a garbanzo and sweet potato salad sandwich.  Hopefully, the change will add more texture and flavor to it.

I really love all of the options here and can’t wait to return to try some more. I hope other Disney quick services will start offering more unique varieties of vegan and vegetarian items too.
