Finding a healthy, yet filling, breakfast can be a bit of an undertaking while staying on Disney property. I usually opt to bring my own breakfast food with me. When I eat out, the portions are either too large (leaving me feeling heavy and lethargic) or too small (leaving me feeling famished way before lunch time). Luckily, the breakfast at the Wave in the Contemporary Resort was just right!
The Wave used to be known for having a fantastic breakfast buffet, but it currently only offers a limited breakfast menu. Despite cutting back on the options, it was still pretty easy to accommodate vegans and vegetarians. We ordered the avocado toast, fruit plate, and breakfast potatoes. Everything was delicious.
Let’s start with the avocado toast. The avocado was mixed with tomatoes, onions and cilantro giving it more of a guacamole flavor. The avocado mixture is topped on sweet multigrain toast. This was a refreshing option for someone who may not like sweets in the morning.
Next, the breakfast potatoes were a blend of sweet potatoes and regular potatoes. I kind of enjoyed the surprise of the sweet potatoes in these. They were nice and crispy without being greasy.
Lastly, we tried the fruit plate. The plate had a good selection, and all of the fruit was perfectly ripened, There’s nothing unique here, but sometimes I really crave fresh fruit in the morning and this hit the spot.
Our meal, as usual, at the Wave was great. I appreciate having plant-based options that don’t feature faux meat, which is getting a bit harder to find. I would definitely grab breakfast here again.
