The best of the two table service restaurants in Morocco is Spice Road Table. This spot has a limited small bites menu that’s big on flavor. Spice Road Table is like a little oasis within the World Showcase. It’s a nice place to cool off with a drink and take in the view. Unlike Tangierine Cafe, this is not the place to go when you’re famished. This is where you go when you want a sample of everything yummy at the Morocco Pavilion.
My go to item at Spice Road Table Is the plant-based Mediterranean Vegetable Platter. The vegetable platter comes with hummus fries, stuffed grape leaves, couscous salad, babaganoush and pita bread. Everything is super delicious and flavorful. Let’s start with the babaganoush. I especially like the babaganoush. It has this smoky flavor that I just can’t get enough of it. I could seriously eat a whole bowl of this stuff with a spoon. It’s rich and creamy and really goes nice with the pita.
I was a little apprehensive of the hummus fries, but they were actually pretty good. They’re crispy on the outside and soft inside. The hummus fries have a pleasant cumin flavor with a slight spice. I don’t find the flavor too overpowering, but someone with more timid taste buds may not like it.
Stuffed grape leaves are definitely not for everyone, and I’m kind of picky about how I like my grape leaves. I don’t like it when they’re too acidic or too greasy. The stuffed grape leaves at Spice Table Road gets it just right. They have the right amount of lemony tang that’s balanced out nicely with the rich olive oil, but the grape leaves aren’t drowning in either. The filling and dried fruit add a nice texture.
Lastly, we have the couscous salad. I LOVE this salad! I’m pretty sure it’s the same couscous salad that’s available at Morocco’s quick service restaurant, Tangierine Cafe. The salad has an overall sweetness too it from the dried fruit but it also has a hint of savory from the veggies.
I would highly recommend this dish to anyone who’s feeling a little adventurous. These aren’t huge portions so it gives you the opportunity to sample a variety of items without having to commit to huge meal.
