Rosie’s All-American Cafe Plant-based “Lobster” Roll

Posted on March 13, 2021March 7, 2021 by Theme Park Anthropologist

If you happen to be strolling down Sunset Boulevard on your way to Tower of Terror or Aerosmith’s Rockin ‘n’ Roller Coaster, you may want to stop by Rosie’s All-American Cafe to try the new plant-based “lobster” roll. Actually…maybe eat this AFTER you’ve gone on those thrill rides.

The lobster roll is an all-veggie-based sandwich. It comes with hearts of palms, celery, apples, and a creamy vegan dressing that’s served on a toasted hoagie roll. If you have read any of my quick service posts, you will know that I have been suffering from faux meat fatigue at the Disney quick services as of late. I appreciate that this is a unique use of veggies. Not only is it unique, but it’s also delicious. The lobster roll has a nice tangy flavor as well as a great crunch from the apples and celery. This sandwich is a bit messy and I would recommend having plenty of napkins on hand before you bite into it.

As much as I enjoyed the “lobster” roll, I think the star of this Hollywood item was the chips. These housemade chips were super thick and crispy with a slightly burned flavor, which I love. If the chips were available as a side item only, I think I would stop by just for them when I didn’t feel like a meal.

Hi! So excited to see this lobster roll! I leave for my Disney trip in a few days! I also hate “fake meat” options such as impossible burgers. I prefer creative uses of grains and veggies. Any other recommendations for delicious vegetarian food while I am there? Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! I really like the vegetarian options at ABC Commissary in Hollywood Studios and the Jungle Skipper Canteen at the Magic Kingdom. Enjoy your trip!
