Dapper Day at Home

Posted on April 5, 2020April 5, 2020 by Theme Park Anthropologist

Dapper Day may have been cancelled at Walt Disney World, but you can still show off that swanky outfit you planned to wear. Dapper Day is hosting a Dapper Day at Home event on April 19th.  Be sure to follow along with them on Instagram and check their official site as they plan their stylish social distancing soirée. In the meantime, here are some more dapper activities you can do at home.

Vintage Vinyl

This is a great time to pull out those old records and play DJ for the day. If you don’t have any records, you can always create a dapper playlist to set the tone. For an example, check out my Dapper Day playlist on Spotify.

The Silver Screen

We all have that list of movies or TV shows that have those deliciously drool-worthy dresses and set designs. Now would be a great time to re-watch them. Here’s my list:

Funny Face (1957)
North by Northwest (1959)
Marie Antoinette (2006)
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)
Singin’ in the Rain (1952)
Harold and Maude (1971)
Anything from Wes Anderson
Mad Men (TV Series)
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (TV Series)
Pushing Daisies (TV Series)

It’s Martini Time

Play mixologist at home and learn how to prepare some classic cocktails. Check out these Mad Men cocktails.

Hostess with the Mostest

Just because you can’t have people over doesn’t mean that you can’t make a fancy meal. Maybe try out a few recipes that you’ve been meaning to test, but haven’t had the time (perhaps a Disney meal you miss). I might try my hand at making some scones and tea sandwiches.
