Bollywood Goes to Disney World

Posted on April 25, 2019April 25, 2019 by Theme Park Anthropologist

If you’re like me and happen to be a fan of the upbeat music and dance style of Bollywood, make your way over to Animal Kingdom! Bollywood has arrived outside the Flights of Wonder stage in Asia. For those unfamiliar with Bollywood, the term is a combination of Bombay and Hollywood.  It refers to a type of Indian film where lively music, dance and bright costumes are common feature. At Animal Kingdom, Bollywood Beats is a short street style performance where audience can learn some Bollywood moves. It’s not long, but it’s enough to give guests a taste of the Indian dance style.  The show begins with a small handful of performers displaying their impressive Bollywood dance moves. Afterwards, they ask for guests to participate. The performers guide them through the steps and then guests get to show off what they’ve learned. It was a fun little show and definitely worth taking a moment to watch.  I actually wish it was a little longer and I hope it stays around for a while.
