The Polynesian Resort is an amazing and transportive resort to visit, and I will find any reason to go there. At my most recent visit, I had dinner at the Kona Cafe. I’ve been there several times before and usually order their Asian stir-fry noodles, but I decided to go with something lighter. I enjoyed a vegan and gluten-free dinner consisting of sushi and a mushroom noodle bowl. The Asian stir-fry noodles can be made vegan and gluten-free too, if requested.
The vegetable nigiri rolls were almost too pretty to eat! Each of the six pieces were topped with a different seasonal vegetable including; carrot, avocado, beet, snow pea, mushroom and lotus root. It came with the usual wasabi and ginger on the side. I enjoyed the presentation and different flavors each of the six vegetables brought. It’s vegan and gluten-free as is on the menu.
Next, I tried the seasonal soup. It just happened to be a vegan and gluten-free mushroom broth with rice noodles. I’m not a huge mushroom fan, but this broth had a nice earthy flavor and was more filling than it looked. I would order it again if it was offered on the menu.
Overall, it was nice to have a little variety rather than getting my usual stir-fry noodles. It was just what I was looking for. The meal was light and healthy and it gave me a reason to visit one of my favorite resorts!
