It’s almost time for the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. While this isn’t my favorite Epcot festival, I do look forward to trying new foods and drinks. This year, I’m excited to try the Spicy Kenyan Githeri in Africa and the IMPOSSIBLE Cottage Pie at Earth Eats.
Excitement aside, I have had some issues with the way vegetarian items have been labeled at the Epcot festivals’ booths. It has been the case that some items not listed as vegetarian actually were vegetarian friendly once I inquired at the actual booth. I really wish there was a plant-based guide for these festivals. Some vegetarians don’t eat eggs, but I think it’s safe to say that most of the desserts labeled as “vegetarian” have eggs in them. Vegans would also benefit from having a guide to navigate what items are vegan as is and which ones can be modified. I have compiled a list of items that are labeled as vegetarian and included ones that could be vegetarian and/or vegan friendly with some modifications. It’s best to check with each booth if there is an item you want to try but are unsure of the ingredients.
