I love Easter time. The Florida air is filled with the sweet smell of blooming jasmine and the jacaranda trees fill the skyline with bursts of purple. If we’re lucky, we’ll get a few more cool days before the sticky sweat of summer kicks in. I’m clearly not alone with this adoration. Florida, especially Disney, gets super busy at this time of year. Even with the crowds, it’s still possible to have an enjoyable Easter celebration. There are a few ways to celebrate Easter at Disney either inside the parks or outside of them (if you don’t want to deal with the spring break crowds). Let the Hunt Begin
Each year, Epcot has an “Egg-stravaganza” Easter egg hunt. This is one of my favorite Epcot scavenger hunts (probably the one place I can participate in an Easter egg hunt as an adult without feeling ridiculous). Giant Easter eggs painted as Disney characters are hidden through out the World Showcase (and maybe even outside of it). You can buy a map at several locations, but if you don’t want the prize then you can just look for the eggs as you stroll around the park. This year’s prize are an assortment of plastic character eggs to choose from with a surprise inside of them. Once you’ve located all of the eggs and placed the matching sticker on the map, return to Port of Entry to claim your prize. No worries if you don’t find them all, you can still get your prize.
Springtime Photo-ops
Another thing I love about springtime is that I get to take my light floral dresses out of hibernation. Disney in the spring offers some really great photo opportunities, especially at the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. The topiaries and flowers are one on the best ways to get in the mood for spring. Another great photo-op is at the Magic Kingdom where guests can meet Mr. and Mrs. Bunny. My only dilemma is…which dress should I wear?
Confectionery Creations
The Grand Floridian, Yacht and Beach Club Resorts all have confectionery masterpieces on display in their lobbies. Pastry artists create Disney themed Easter eggs out of edible materials. My favorites are the Beauty and the Beast egg and the Madame Leota egg. This is a great way to sprinkle in some Disney Easter magic without going into the crowded parks.
The Most Important Meal of the Day
If Easter brunch is your thing, then Disney has you covered. You can choose from one of the resorts’ breakfast buffets (Boma is my favorite) or you could head over to Disney Springs. This year, the Edison, Maria and Enzo’s, Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, Paddlefish, Raglan Road, STK, and House of Blues will be serving brunch. For me, I’d go with the House of Blues Gospel Brunch. I can’t think of a better Easter brunch then one that brings the soul to their food and entertainment.
