Restaurantosaurus was never my favorite restaurant inside Animal Kingdom. However, I really enjoyed the Burgers and Sundaes experience when that was available. So, I decided to head over and try their plant-based Spicy Southwestern Burger.
First, I need to give a shout out to the AMAZING cast members working at Restaurantosaurus. They did a great job keeping the space clean and trying to maintain social distancing for the guests. This was especially impressive because we saw the WORST guest compliance on this visit since the parks have reopened. I mean…it was bad. I actually saw entire groups (not a singular group, but multiple and rather large groups) roaming the parks without masks and no cast members correcting the behavior. One maskless woman went up to a cast member for directions. The cast member gave her directions, but did not direct her to put her mask back on. I understand that the rest of Florida is now the Wild West, but mask wearing and social distancing is still mandatory while visiting the Walt Disney World parks.
Okay…now that I got that out of my system, let’s get back to the food. Unfortunately, the burger was almost as bad as guests’ compliance. The Spicy Southwestern Burger is an Impossible patty with vegan pepper jack cheese, chipotle sauce, arugula and tomato.
I really don’t have anything positive to say about this burger. The patty was dry and chewy. The arugula was wilted and slimy, and the chipotle sauce was non-existent. Without any sauce, it had no flavor and definitely no spiciness to it. The absence of the toppings bar also made it hard to doctor it up. I’m glad I was sharing this because I would not have been able to finish it on my own. I actually made my way over to the adjacent lounge to get a Tequilasaurus cocktail to wash out the bad taste. Luckily, the cocktail was delicious and refreshing.
I do not plan on eating at Restaurantosaurus again anytime soon. There are too many other tasty plant-based options in Animal Kingdom to waste my time and taste buds here. I may drop in for another cocktail though…
