AbracadaBar at Disney’s Boardwalk

Posted on March 25, 2020March 22, 2020 by Theme Park Anthropologist

Have you ever wished that the Hollywood Tower of Terror had a lounge? If yes, I’ve got a place for you! The AbracadaBar at Disney’s Boardwalk has an elaborate backstory as a former hang out spot for magicians and their assistants until one day it vanished. The bar magically reappeared for guests at the Boardwalk to partake in some magical libations. Sounds like a Twilight Zone episode to me…

AbracadaBar has a great atmosphere. It’s a little spooky mixed with a lot of dapper. The walls are adorned with mirrors, magicians’ posters, props, and magical oddities. It has a dark and moody feel to it, which may not be for everyone but I enjoyed it. Dance music from the 1920s and 1930s floats through the air and transports you back in time. It’s a great secret retreat from the hustle and bustle of Epcot’s World Showcase.

Now let’s get to the cocktails. The drinks here have clever names like The Conjurita, Magic Hattan, and Coney Negroni. On my visit, I tried the Elixir and Seashore Sweet. The Elixir is not on the menu, but definitely worth trying if you want a drink that fits the ambiance. This drink comes with lucid absinthe…yes, you read that right ABSINTHE, water, and a sugar cube. I enjoyed this cocktail, but it’s definitely for the adventurous. It has a bit of a spicy black licorice flavor.

The Seashore Sweet, on the other hand, tasted like cotton candy lemonade. This drink came with Absolut citron, lemonade, and cotton candy syrup. This was a fun drink and I really couldn’t taste the alcohol, but it was there. I can’t wait to return to this magical lounge and try some more curious concoctions!
