I have a confession to make…I love barbecue. It’s my favorite condiment, and I will smother just about anything in that sweet and spicy goodness. Over the years, I don’t even know how many times I’ve walked by Flame Tree Barbecue at Animal Kingdom and wished there was a vegetarian or vegan option. Well, I am happy to report that the day has finally arrived with the introduction of the plant-based Hot Link Smokehouse Sandwich.
The Hot Link Smokehouse Sandwich includes a plant-based Sausage; it’s served with a slaw that has a hint of barbecue and is topped crispy onions on New England-style roll. This was really tasty, but I did have to add some extra barbecue sauce (plus some for my fries too!). Some of you may be thinking that this sounds a lot like another plant-based option over at the Magic Kingdom. It DOES has some similarities to the slaw dog over at Casey’s Corner. However, I enjoyed this one a little bit more. The crunchy onions gave the dog a nice flavor and texture that I really liked, and I liked the New England-style roll more than the potato bun at Casey’s Corner. Service was much faster; which probably added more enjoy-ability to it for me. Plus, with plenty of shady seating, I didn’t have to circle around like a vulture looking for a spot to enjoy my meal. For those of you who are like me and can never get enough barbecue, here are some other plant-based barbecue items that you can try at Walt Disney World:
Slaw Dog (Casey’s Corner-Magic Kingdom)
Korean Roasted Cauliflower (Yak and Yeti Restaurant-Animal Kingdom)

BBQ Crispy Eggplant (Narcoossee’s-Grand Floridian Resort)
Plant-based BBQ Burger (Everything POP-Pop Century Resort)
